Hello, I’ll be applying this coming year, and I am a history/anthropology major. I love physics and study it on my own time as well as in school, but I have no STEM extracurriculars. If i was admitted, I would double major in physics and anthropology or history. Has anybody heard of such an admission situation? Thanks for any help you can offer.
You are admitted to MIT as a whole, not a specific school, and what you put as “intended major” can very easily change.
Not sure if the lack of STEM ECs will count against you (just do what you really enjoy, as a rule of thumb), but a weak background in HS math, for example, likely will.
And yes, many humanities majors I know are double majors.
