Admitted Students - Class of 2020

@JerzJim With stats like those, I’d be very surprised if you weren’t offered any kind of scholarship. I’m pretty sure scholarship notifications are still coming out in the next couple of months, though, so they might just be later getting to you for whatever reason. I know some people don’t even find out they’re getting a scholarship until as late as March. I haven’t heard anything, either… and I’m out of state, so I’m really crossing my fingers!

I was accepted in November with 31 ACT and 3.83 uw gpa and still have heard nothing about scholarships.

I received the gold national scholarship last week, but if I do not get additional funds, I doubt I will attend due to offers from other schools like USC and Case Western. Does anyone know if all scholarship offers are sent at once or is it possible that I can still receive additional funds?

@yungspritecan you might want to wait till the financial aid reports come out at the end of Feb. / beginning of March. They will detail all financial assistance be it merit and/or need. Sometimes funds can be made available at the last minute.

@Mamelot Are you sure we’re gonna get a financial aid report in feb? this is what it says on myu "Financial aid awarding is scheduled to begin in late July and continues on an ongoing basis. (For spring terms, disbursement begins in mid-January)

You will receive an email in your University email account when your awards are ready for your response.

NOTE: Newly-admitted undergraduate students will receive an estimated award letter in the mail beginning late March."

Does Minnesota need mid year grades? Will it help with scholarships? Son has no scholarship either. ACT 35 and gpa 3.9.

@freakofnature22 that refers to when loans or grants are actually disbursed. You should have an assessment of what those amounts will be in Feb. or March at the latest. If it’s LATE March that’s a bit later than last year. We’ll be keeping an eye on the portal throughout Feb/March.

@herewelearn do send in mid-term grades if you think that will help with a university-wide scholarship and hopefully your son applied for any college-specific scholarships already (some priority deadlines have already passed . … .). UMN would not require mid-year grades unless you are instructed to send them in for some reason. That’s mostly not the case and people send them in voluntarily in order to assist with an on-the-cusp admission decision or perhaps to bolster the chances of a scholarship.

Does anyone know what the UMN ID number means on the top left corner of the umn application tracker? Does that have to do with an acceptance? please help!!

Isn’t that just the ID number you are given in order to activate your account on the Tracker?

@lisa4232 I was just coming on to ask about that myself. I don’t remember seeing this ID number on the tracker before today and also was hoping that was a sign of a possible acceptance coming soon. Perhaps someone that has been accepted can answer whether or not they noticed that number appear on the tracker prior to being accepted (just below the email address)

You guys that’s your U of MN ID #. I don’t recall if it means you are accepted if it shows up on the Tracker but we all definitely had one of these way prior to admission decisions coming out. I don’t mean to dash hopes - maybe everyone who’s been accepted gets their # placed on the Tracker. Or maybe they were upgrading the Tracker site (they do routine maintenance every Sunday) and decided it made sense to add this field for everyone. I have to guess that the latter is more likely because all the other fields are pretty much just identifying who the applicant is - it’s the stuff in the box that changes with status. Hope I’m wrong.

Yeah, you are probably correct @Mamelot , just an upgrade that happened. Just looking for a sliver of hope. Honestly, not expecting a decision now until mid to late February.
