Admitted Students Day - Anyone Go?

My son and I were not able to attend admitted students day. Did anyone on Cc go? What did you see and learn? Impressions?

I was there! It was awesome! First the admissions committee, financial aid office, vice president, and president introduced themselves. We then followed up with a short lecture on soccer… yes soccer! Haha. It was taught by two professors. Apparently the course is offered every 4 years. After that we sat through a students panel. We were allowed to ask them ANYTHING and they responded as best they could. From there we went to lunch, it was awesome! Finally, after lunch we were treated to the musical stylings of an on-campus acapella group. Later students were given the opportunity to attend any of I believe 2 or 3 more informational presentations, either that or 1 of three tours.

Basically I fell in love with Pitzer, in fact, while there I paid my commitment deposit. The students and staff were friendly, the food was awesome, I loved the dorms, everything was perfect! If you have not visited Pitzer I recommend you do. Then you’ll get a feel of what life at Pitzer is like and hopefully you’ll be as convinced and excited as I am to attend this fall.

Thanks for the info - sounds like a great day, and I’m sorry we missed it. We did visit in October, but it was a Friday afternoon, so my son was not able to sit in on a class. He loved the dorms and dining hall. Everyone was super friendly. I think he’s leaning towards Pitzer, but has not made up his mind yet.

My son, who is a freshman this year, loves Pitzer! They do many nice things for parents, too, including a program when you drop off in August and a family weekend in February. The food is excellent both at Pitzer and at the other schools in the consortium. There is always a presentation by a student music group or dance company. Although DS was sick and I missed alot of family weekend, I went to excellent presentations on Pitzer’s landscaping, on study abroad, and on the special programs, like the Fulbrights. (Pitzer prides itself on the number of Fulbright scholars each year and provides an advisor and special program to assist students in applying.) I wish I could be a student again!

My son sent in his deposit today. He had a lot of good choices, but he thinks Pitzer is the best fit for him.
