I wasnt able to attend the Admitted Students Day yesterday due to a test. I was wondering if those of you were able to attend could give me some insight as to what went on and how you all liked/disliked it. Any input is appreciated, thank you!

It rained.

All of my volunteering was spent answering the question that yes, the activities fair was still being held in the Sunken Gardens and had not been moved to WM Hall despite the rain.

I'll have to let the admitted students actually answer your question, though.

the day was organized so well!!
It was so much nicer than that of UVa, aka the Days on the Lawn, which I felt kind of lost since all the helping students disappeared after the openning ceremony.

I was so impressed by the amicable students.
Tour Guides has done a good job.

W&M rocks.

Have to second IhateCR's comments. Day on the Lawn on Friday and W&M admitted student day Saturday. No comparison. UVA did not seem well ogranized, students didn't seem to care to help after about 11 am. W&M, depsite the rain, was friendly, helpful and just so beautiful. Daughter kept debated her options but before we left, she decided W&M was the place for her.

I kind of wish they had gone over basic information again (like dorms, meal plans, Greek life, etc.) It's been over a year since I visited and took the tour, so I couldn't really remember all the details. Granted, I can find most of this information out online, and it's nothing that would make or break the deal for me, but it still would have been nice. Otherwise, it was generally a helpful day.

We had two guides for our tour who were terrific. They gave many answers to life on campus including dorms, meal plans and Greek life. Also in the admissions building, one of the counselors offered to sit down with us and discuss ANY questions we had.

Yes, they were very helpful. Only, not everyone could go on the tours, as there were about 7 other activities scheduled during that same time. I think it might have been better if they had spread everything out over two days, rather than crammed it all into one. There were many panels and such that I wish I could have attended but couldn't, due to their double bookings. I would have liked to take another tour, for instance, but it was a better use of my time to go to the sessions on International Opportunities and General Academic Advising than to redo the tour. Thus, I missed out on the recaps of this general information. Just a thought :)

My wife and son enjoyed the day. The only problem was that all three majors he was interested in had there info sessions from 1-2pm, so he could not visit them all.

I was running one of the tables (for our dance group) and I must say that the visiting parents and students were extremely nice and cordial! Everyone came up with interesting questions and comments; plus the crowd was quite lively despite the rain and I felt it ended too soon! I was quite impressed with the wide variety of organizations associated with the college - e.x. Juggling and Circus Skills Club, Society for Creative Anachronism, Queen's Guard, Swing Club, Beledi, Mystic Theater, etc. I wish I had had more time to walk around and observe.

Thanks to all who came and made it a joyful experience!

after hearing all the great things about w&m from all of you, I just couldnt resist, I had to visist. So I went today with my parents and I immediately fell in love with the campus. I already made up my mind, and intend on going to w&m, I look forward to meeting all of you in the fall, thanks for the help :-)

Daughter felt the same way, swtchyck. As soon as she walked around a few minutes, her mind was set. Good luck!
