Admitted Students Open-Houses/Weekends?

I was accepted into MU and am just wondering if they have any special weekends, open-houses, or overnights for admitted students. Some of the other schools I've gotten into have been sending me information for these types of events, but I haven't gotten anything from MU other than the scholarship competitions. Am I missing anything?

Actually, I found information that answered my question.
[Tuition and Fees | The Next Step | Marquette University](http://www.marquette.edu/nextstep/visit_admit.shtml)

Trying to plan a second look at Marquette and wondering if we should set up a private visit or if the festivities at the admitted student weekend are worth waiting for. At first we liked the idea of the basketball game but I don’t think the timing is great as it is right after midterms and right before Spring Break. Also, it’s against St. John’s and that is another school my S is strongly considering so I’d hate for him to base his decision on who wins a game! And yes, that is really a concern, lol!

We are from NY and Marquette is the only school still in the mix that is not local. He’s already ruled out two senior military colleges and he’s unlikely to get accepted to Fordham where his older brother will graduate from this May. Other than being nervous about the distance and the cold weather (not that it’s warm in NY right now but still), I think Marquette would be a really good choice for him so I want to plan a visit that showcases that. If it means waiting until the April weekend we will but it sure would be nice to make a decision earlier. Any thoughts? Anyone attend the admitted students weekend in the past? Any other sights/events coming up in Milwaukee that we shouldn’t miss? Thanks!

sandkmom - I would recommend you visit during the scholarship competitions. The school does a FABULOUS job of presenting to both the students and the parents. I attended several years back with S1 and got alot out of it. If that doesn’t work definitely visit during a basketball game. The St. Johns’ game will be a great environment (Sr. day) and it will showcase student life. My D wants to go up for a game and I don’t think her schedule is going to allow for it, but if it does St. John’s will be the game we attend. I recommend driving around the East Side of Milwaukee to get a flavor of life outside the Marquette bubble. Kids are able to access the Lake during the warmer weather for recreation and entertainment. Milwaukee is very easy to get around and there is always alot to do.

Thanks so much for the input stlbballmom! Should I be surprised that someone with “bball” in their user name is recommending we go to the game??? :D

Marquette lost to St. John’s yesterday. They were in our neck of the woods playing at Madison Square Garden. H and I had theatre tix and walked around Superbowl Blvd for a bit but my S stayed home to watch the game. He said he he wasn’t favoring either team at this point and would love to go to the game in March. So we will think about that.

I hadn’t planned to come in for the scholarship competition bc I didn’t think my S would walk away with a scholarship and at this point February won’t work for us anyway. It’s either going to be March or April.

Did your S end up at Marquette? And do you think your D will? Best of luck to her!

My S did not end up there, but he almost did. We needed a bit more scholarship money and he did not receive as much as your son. I am glad to see MU spreading out their funding. My D is interested in the Physical Therapy program and it’s really competitive so we are waiting on that letter before she can decide. Feel free to message me and I can give you my email. I am an alum so I am a little biased. It is a special place and I have no doubt he would love it. I am still good friends with my college buddies and we get together annually for visits. I personally know several kids from my area attending now and they are all doing well and have diverse interests.
