funny, today I got my official award letter in the mail a few hours after I was able to access it online.

I got my Financial Award as well.....I also posted a question or two in a new thread, but I thought I'd stop by to see if anyone else had any success with creating the CalNet ID. How does Berkeley know that I just got back from a UCLA tour, only to send me their Financial Aid notification......It's a conspiracy I tell ya...anyway....I have no idea what to do about anything anymore.

Does off-campus at all mean......University owned apartments? Because I assume I couldn't afford housing anywhere near that city, am I right? lol

Is it even possible to create a CalNet ID before we've submitted the SIR? I also got the paper acceptance letter from Berkeley today but still nothing from UCLA. (My post office is 5 miles from UCLA, so I assume they just didn't send anything yet)

it's amazing....my son also got his acceptance and fin aid letters today...and we're all the way in PA!!

I got mine, too, in Florida (doesn't get much farther than that here in the US!)

Michelle, I did create the CalID, but I also already submitted the SIR.

-A

Got mine today in California.

Off-campus is off-the-freakin-campus...BUT there are apartments off-campus that are still owned/operated by Berkeley. All that does is make it easier to pay rent since it would come out of your CARS balance, or show up as a new charge if you have no Fin Aid. Or you could live in a private residence somewhere else and hope that your fin aid disbursements are credited to your account on time.

do you guys receive a congraduation call from ucb today(a lady's voice)?
and she invited me to go to the Cal day in May 16th

No, no call. :-( I hope its May 16 and not the 14th, then I could actually go. But today I signed up for CalSo on June 9. Is anyone else bringing a parent? My dad is coming... I dont know how I feel about that.

Hey, I'm a wee bith older than you all....and I'd bring my dad. It's awesome...I think you should, however at 18? I can understand why you might be a little put off by the notion....

I am 18, I used to be rebellous, not anymore after all of this. guess reuniting with parents is a sign of matureity

yeah.....matureity is awesome.....lol.

Cal is going to eat you people alive...no offense, but I've been noticing a trend throughout the Cal threads....

If it is as hard as I think it will be.....be praying that it all works out, seriously. Or else more people will be pulling a Peter Pan off the tower than necessary. Seriously......my professors who had attended Cal used to tell such horror stories....

well, study shows that CC transfers are one the most acadmeic successful group anywhere they transfer to.

Cal does not have any "solid" transfer reports but the ucsd study report shows that the avg transfer student's GPA is around 2.9.

i think, those who will not be going to grad school will not have a problem...the others will have to really work hard...no matter if you are @ Cal, UCLA, UCSD etc...

I'm taking my mom, probably. It depends on whether she can get off work. Also, we might be moving on the weekend of June 9th, so I'm not sure.

BruinMichelle, I have a friend who graduated from Berkeley economics - she gave me just one piece of advice... well, two pieces really. "Magpakabait at mag-aral." In English, "Behave and Study." LOL. And, yes, I do intend to go to grad school or medical school, so I really have to follow her advice. I think if I can maintain a 3.3 (mostly Bs, B+, A-), that's not too bad, right? I think that's achievable, even at Berkeley or UCLA. I have a friend who graduated with a 3.6 from UCLA Eletrical Engineering; his major GPA was 3.8-ish. Well, it so happens that he's a genius too (he's my age, graduated HS at 15, gradauted from UC at 21, working for Agilent Technologies now), but still. I think a 3.3 is not out of my league, it can be done. I have to beleive that it can be done! :)

At any rate, good luck to all of us! We'll all be needing it :)

bruinmichelle,

I heard that as well. From what people have told me...especially and I mean ESPECIALLY during Finals week at UC Berkeley, they actually put extra patrol cops on one of the bridges (I don't know exactly which bridge) in the bay area. Reasons are obvious enough. I guess some brains do overheat at some point. This is just from what I heard, ofcourse I do not know if it's true.

well, this website can maybe go a long way towards keeping us sane. or keeping us from going beyond our present level of insanity. ;)

Oh, that's terrible....is anyone going to the Information thingy for Cal at the Hilton LAX or the one in Anaheim?

Might go....don't know.

I'm going to the hilton LAX one on the 10th

How did you guys find out about these things? I havent heard anything.
