Admitted to college of Engineering but it doesn list major; what does that mean?

Because I applied for mechanical engineering and if it just says "college of engineering" does that mean they accepted me for an undeclared engineering major?
That makes no sense...</p>

<p>I applied to EECS; so that means if you are accepted then you are accepted to the major you applied.
They should highlight the major on the acceptance letter.</p>

<p>Yes, you can. Talk to your advisor towards the end of your first year; provided you have been doing well, you can expect a 'green light' meaning that you can start working toward your 'would be' major (EECS in your case). Nonetheless, it is not official until you get a confirmation.</p>
