Admitted. Whats next?

So I have withdrawn all my other applications and signed all my letters of intent for ED acceptance. I created my Duke NetID, but I'm not sure what's next. When do we apply for housing?

We get the Blue Book in May, and then we register for housing etc. :)

Coolio. I need more Duke related things to do now!

How are you guys going to survive the rest of high school? all i can think about is duke!

Just enjoy the rest of your time in high school while maintaining relatively high grades. Try to enjoy what you are learning because the grades aren’t as important now. Senior year of high school was my favorite year, and I still miss it every once in a while (I tend to be a bit nostalgic). I know it is easy to get distracted with what’s next, but enjoy the present. By next school year, you and your friends will likely be pursuing different paths at different schools, so savor the time you have with them now. Plus, you will be super busy with classes, making friends, and joining clubs once college begins for y’all, so relax.

I second that. Definitely have fun for the rest of high school (as long as the mid year report doesn’t look too bad) because there will be lots of people you probably won’t ever see again. And I’ll tell you, as someone who’s said goodbye to a lot of people before, it doesn’t get any easier.

I think you register for housing late spring? I think it was either that or over the summer. Definitely keep your grades up though, because the worst thing literally that could happen is for your four years of hard work to be destroyed the potential of getting rescinded. This goes for all the ED acceptance people I guess. Other than that, I guess just have fun, because fall 2012 will come by sooner than you think it will. I remember back in high school I was like, the time will never come when I’ll be in college. I’ll be so old by then! Haha, and now my first semester of college is practically over =(. lol

How bad does the midyear report have to be to have your admission revoked?

Yeah, patriotsfan, I was worrying about that to. If anyone could help with that it would be great.

Just don’t dip too far down. And don’t worry about it

Don’t get C’s (or D’s or F’s obviously) and you’ll be more than fine. But as a future Duke student, I’d imagine you’ll still strive for A’s ;), but they won’t flinch if you pull in B’s…

If I get a C or two on a midyear exam (exam grades show up on our transcripts) but my semester grade is still above a C will it really hurt?

How do you withdraw other applications, just haven’t gotten to that

Email or fax admissions at the other schools just saying I got in ED, and as a result I am withdrawing my application

@ patriotsfan1: I don’t think one C on the exam that’s posted on your transcript will get your offer revoked. They will focus on semester grades, not exam grades (my hs transcript only showed semester grades). Nevertheless, still strive to do well, but you can relax a little bit now.

My son was accepted Ed. He wrote letters to all schools withdrawing applications. Before Ed decision he was accepted to 3 schools through EA…does he need to notify them he won’t be attending ASAP or can he wait until the spring?
