For both EA and RD, colleges request that you submit 2 weeks early (i.e. Oct 15th for EA and Dec 15th for RD), saying that they “prefer if at all possible”. What does this mean? Is it kind of like rolling admissions or are they just asking nicely but will not give any advantage to submit early?
<p>Unless they actually say it's rolling admissions, I doubt it is. EA apps are normally not even read till late November/early December (from what I've heard). More likely, they want to make sure you get everything in on time so that if something is missing, they can contact you and you can get it in by the deadline. Also, it probably eases their mail load if the applications come in over a couple-week period instead of all coming in at the last minute</p>
