<p>Im thinking about going on a community service trip to Greece and Turkey with the company Adventures Cross Country. I really like how the initial cost includes the airfare price, as many of the other teen tour programs don't. But I can't find many reviews on it, so I was wondering if anyone has ever done one of their programs or has anything to say.</p>

<p>How was the service trip? Does that count as service hours for your college application?</p>
<p>I absolutely loved it. Unfortunately I thought we would do more community service hours but we didn’t. One of our projects in a village was just picking up trash. But it also was the first year they offered that trip. Maybe now it’s changed? I’m not sure.(We got credited for 40 hours) </p>
<p>But, I honestly didn’t do it for service hours. I did it because I love traveling and interacting with different cultures. It’s something I want to do when I’m older-- I’m just not sure in what way. (and that’s something I will bring up in my college interviews and or application.) I didn’t want to feel like a tourist like I would have with my parents and I saw a community service trip as my next bet. </p>
<p>Eeek. Depends on the college. Some colleges see these trips as “pay to play” and not as a genuine community service. I wouldn’t go on a trip like this to make you “stand out” in the college application process… colleges will just laugh at you.
