Advertising Major

Hello to all. So a basic intro - I’m an international student, from India. Just graduated high school and taking a gap year to apply to the states for next fall. In brief, stats are - average of 70% throughout grades 9-12. Studies English, history, literature, economics and political science in grades 11 & 12. Giving AP Tests in macroeconomics, microeconomics and psychology (shooting for a 3). And an expected SAT score of 2000 along with decent ECA’s. So my question is this. I am pretty much dead set on becoming an advertising creative. I’ve always loved literature and creative writing and am well versed with basic graphic design too. I think being a copywriter would suit me more over becoming an art director so I guess that’s what I’m gonna pursue. Now I did a fair amount of research on the colleges offering advertising courses and figured that I could do journalism and communications for my undergraduate degree too as I’m possibly looking to go to a portfolio school after wards (Miami Ad School! they have a campus in Mumbai). My parents have given me a budget of about 35-40k a year. So could you guys suggest me some decent communications programs in that budget? I think Arizona state university and uw madison fit that bill perfectly. But I don’t think I can get into Wisconsin with my grades  although it seems like an amazing place! I also loved penn state’s advertising program. Michigan state too. But again they’re over 42k annually. Could someone also tell me about the scholarships I could get at these schools if you know? And should I consider going to a design/art school too? Would be great to speak to some advertising professionals about the job market in the states too. Always dreamt of working in Madison Avenue. (mad men :p) anyway looking forward to your answers and some helpful discussion! thanks for reading this awfully lengthy post.

70% in the US would be a D- average. I don’t know what that means so I’ll focus on the SAT 2000.
I don’t think that UW Madison in a big reach for you. I know they have a great business school. That’s the only school I really know about.
