I am starting out my freshmen year in college, and I have to say, I love the college life very much. Yet, everyday it bugs me to know that I have one less day to figure out exactly WHAT I want to major in.
Originally, I wanted to major in Architecture, but I changed my mind after hearing the competitive employment rate after college. Interior Design is another thing I was interested in, but I had to cross that off too after researching that it's very difficult to make a living with that career path. I found out early on in AP Calculus, that I DESPISED math, so instead of me going into construction design, my parents suggested Advertising.
Hence, my classes are set for a major in Advertising. However, I have heard from a friend who is majoring in Graphic Design, that Advertising majors don't deal with much of the creative aspect of the industry, whereas, Graphic Designers do. With that, I've been thinking of double majoring in Advertising and Graphic Design.
I don't know if this is true, but I read on many websites that it takes Graphic Designers MONTHS to find a job - I can't have an inconsistency in income, so I thought majoring in Graphic Design and Advertising would give me an upper hand. Would this be a good idea? I have considered going into Business too, but the only problem with that is I don't get to express my creativity as much.

You are in your first year, so I would not worry too much.

If you have the time, double major.

If you have more time, minor in business administration.

Do what YOU want.
