Advice and Tips for Graduation Day?

I know it’s early, but I don’t want to leave it at the last minute, since family’s from overseas.

On graduation day, we’ll probably be making our way on the northbound 1 train from Columbus Circle to the station in Columbia. How horribly packed is it during the morning rush? Also, if I’m using the train should I carry the gown and roll it up to avoid wrinkles before the ceremony?

Any first-hand accounts about making it to graduation on time?

First, congratulations. I wouldn’t wear your cap and gown in the subway. Just put it on on campus. Yes, leave plenty of time to get there in the morning. Only a few gates will be open and there will be no parking in the area. There will be about thirty thousand graduates, students, staff, and family members on the plaza. It is a beautiful ceremony.
