I am an international here and applying to 'college of arts and sciences' of universities to study physics and maybe econ. However, during my secondary studies I have not taken any history or social science classes.. I am following the british system and studied mostly the sciences..

My SAT scores after three takings are: 700CR 780M 680W.. I'm taking the SAT2s in Math2, Phy, Chem this November..

In December.. Should i
1. retake the SAT1 to boost my scores or
2. should I take the SAT2s in US History and World History by self studying to make me more 'all rounded' instead of a hardcore science person..

Which choice would boost my chances of getting into a top 'college of arts and sciences' or liberal arts colleges like Williams during the regular decision round..? Do they want a higher SAT1 score or a more rounded person with SAT2 in History?

Colleges don't want well rounded people, they want well rounded CLASSES. They want well-lopsided people. So try to excell in your areas of expertise. Don't worry about social sciences, they'll see your transcript anyway and know you haven't taken those classes; it'll look like you just took those SATIIs for college. Which would be true. But unless you think you can develop your skills in the humanities to be excellent... if you can only become competent there is really no point.

For those colleges that emphasise a four-year schedule involving 4 years of Foreign language, English, Math, and 3 of social sciences and sciences, make sure to indicate that you did the "best according to your environment" in your case, the British system of schooling.

I'd say take the SAT II's because most of the top colleges require 2 of them to apply. Your SAT I scores aren't low either, 2160 is a great score! Definately focus on SAT IIs.

I'm presuming that your SAT II scores in Nov are satisfactory, then I would say go for the SAT I. Taking too many SAT II doesn't help as much as a boost in your SAT I. Still, it depends on how much you think you could improve if you retake it in Dec.

How did you self-study US-History and World History btw? How long did it take? I'm just wondering since I'm also an international student and my knowledge of US History is almost close to zero. I'm thinking about taking an extra SAT II social-science subject.
