Advice/chances for Exeter & Andover?

Hi, I’m entering 8th grade and am considering to apply to Exeter and Andover. I am aware this isn’t the best place to be asking for “chances”. However, my curiosity has gotten the better of me. I’ll just leave some basic information about myself and if anyone has any advice/opinions to share, it would be great.

I’ve taken the ISEE two times before, consistency scoring in the 90s
I’m taking the SSAT in two month and the practice test indicates I will likely score in the >95 percentile on all three subject.

My grade for the end of 7th grade was

Math: A
Science: A+
Social studies, ELA: A
French: A

I had good comments for effort and am expecting good recommendations.

My ec are

8 years of violin playing;
Concertmaster for orchestra
2ND in state
I got 3rd in an international violin competition in Europe
And I got to play with an orchestra as a guest soloist
I also have honor marks for 6 years in a row at my conservatory

I play baseball recreationally and has been doing it for 3 years

And I also do sailing (5 years)

Finally, I did mun at my school and got high commendations

These are the general information, again if you have any advice/opinions, it would be appreciated.

Why are you only looking to apply to those two schools? There are so many great schools worth exploring, especially if you’re interested in continuing with sailing.

Thanks! Any recommended schools? (I am more focused on music in addition to sports)

Have you looked at St. Andrews in Delaware? Choate? Or if you’re really keen on music, why not Interlochen? Walnut Hill? Or Tabor if you really love sailing?

Thanks for the input

It depends on your writing (there are essays on the application) and you might have to do more extracurriculars not involving orchestra/violin. But otherwise, you look just about okay on their scales maybe a tiny bit about average.

Music may help if you are willing to reach out to faculty and send in recordings/videos with your application. Of course, the violin is a very common instrument, but if you are especially talented (your stats look pretty impressive) you might consider this as your hook.

Thanks! Choate seems excellent!

Hotchkiss has an excellent music department, as well as sailing.
