Sorry everybody... but chances?

Sorry to bother you guys with yet another chances post

So I’m an eighth grade female applying to Exeter this fall. My brother also attended this school a few years ago. I’m from a small town in the Midwest, so I didn’t have a ton of chances for ECs.

SSAT: 99% math, 99% reading, 99% verbal - overall 99%

Grades: All A’s, and my school doesn’t do A+.

I’ve been playing 3-4 sports a year for a while, although my main ones are cross country and softball. I’m not outstanding in any, but I’m decent.

I play the electric guitar, the french horn, piano, and the oboe, although I’m only taking lessons on the first two right now.

I’ve been in Student Council for 4-5 years, and am currently the Treasurer. I’ve also competed in Forensics in sixth and seventh, with high scores each year. I also downhill ski as a hobby.

I’ve also placed at least in the top 1-2% in a talent search program or whatever for the Midwest, every year since 4th grade. I think in 5th and 6th grade I scored 1st and 2nd place, respectively.

My interview was on Skype, and my interviewer was basically reading off of a sheet of questions, so it wasn’t much of a conversation. I’d say I did at least okay on that.

My recommendations should all be very good as I have close relationships with all my teachers.

My essays should be good, if I ever get around to finishing them.

If I missed a section, let me know. Thanks!

Your application and ssat scores especially are very impressive. Are you applying to any other schools except Exeter. If Exeter is the one and only school you want to go to then just apply there but if you have your heart set on boarding school, you need to apply to more than just Exeter. No matter how impressive your application, recommendations, interview, ECs, scores, etc. are, applying to top schools is a gamble and never guaranteed.

Thanks!

And Exeter is definitely my favorite school that I’ve seen so far, and I’m the most familiar with it. I am actually considering applying to Choate, as it seemed to be right up there with PEA, but I think it might be a little late, as I’d have to schedule an out of town interview and everything.

Risky of course to apply just to Exeter, but your scores and accomplishments are impressive to say the least. Midwest, an underrepresented area (small town), brother attended there. If your parents can pay, I’d say you’ve got a very good chance. Best of luck!

And that’s what I forgot… I’ll also be asking for financial aid - not full, but a good amount.

But thanks!
