I'm only a freshman but it has been my dream to get into UF for a couple of years now, its premature, i know, but can anyone give me some advice?

Currently:

-4.0 unweighted GPA

-4.75 Weighted GPA

-3 years of Spanish completed

-Im starting Calculas next year and plan on finishing all math through Statistics by 11th grade.

Im currently 39 out of 550 in my class rank but i guarantee that will improve.

Im in DECA and have made it to states (hopefully nationals, early march)

I plan on joining Mu Alpha Theta, Key Club, Debate Club, the Baseball and Basketball teams, and NHS.

Im taking 3 AP's next year (AP Calculas AB, AP World History, and AP Human Geography)

I currently have 85 hours at a local camp but plan on getting over 200 hours this summer at the local library/Hospital.

Chances (if i join the clubs, get the hours, maintain the GPA that i say i will)
and
Advice (what does UF look for that i should work on)

Thanks!

EDIT- forgot to mention, im a white/non hispanic male, both my mom and aunt went to uf if it matters..

Bump? anyone?

UF is kind of known for being a wild card school. Every year there are horror stories about how this or this super qualified person gets rejected. Nevertheless, statistically of you have an SAT score over 2100 or a GPA over 4.0 (weighted), you have a 90 percent chance of getting in.

yeah, ive heard it reffered to a lottery etc., im a decent test taker and think both of those are within reach, thanks for the post…

bump, im looking more for advice than chances as im only a freshman.

Keep working hard. UF is the wildcard school, but if you have ECs that matter to you in addition to over a 4.0 UF weighted GPA, and volunteer hours that relate to you as a person you should be doing just fine. 3 APs is solid for now. Make sure to pass them [if not 4’s and 5’s].
Make sure not to become a “laundry list” student and taken officer’s positions in clubs that really matter to you. Go sit in a classroom at UF and see if it’s the right fit for you. I think the important thing to remember is that UF is looking for fits, not for numbers.
Best of luck baby Gator!
*Also, I thought I’d add, UF loooves to see varsity sports, but, tbh, NHS is kinda moot. Everybody is in NHS at that point. I was not in NHS and it was fine. So if you want to join - go ahead, take an officer’s position. But being a member is largely useless unless you can find some interesting volunteering opportunities.
Ah, also, message me if you’d like to ask any questions - the admissions process was rigorous and nerve-wracking, but I’ve made it!! haha. [:

If you’re only a freshman, and you keep this up, you’ll be a Gator in no time. :D

bump 10char
