Advice for a Current Junior

Hi! I recently got my SAT results and scored an 800 CR 740 Math and 680 Writing. Will these scores be very compettitive for admissions at Bowdoin, or should I take it again to improve writing. Other stats: 93.5 UW GPA, compettitive high school, mostly honors and APs, decent EC’s and good-great community service.

What's that GPA on a 4.0 Scale - 3.7ish?

SATS look good for anywhere...I'd retake them just to see if you can do a bit better. Good luck.

Bowdoin is SAT optional--how are your grades and strength of schedule

Bowdoin strives for geographic diversity. If you are from Massachusetts,
Connecticut, NY, NJ it is alot harder to get in, given the number of students applying from those states. This is true for all the NESCAC schools,
but it seems especially so for Bowdoin. Since Bowdoin is so small the adcom
is looking for students who will not only fit into the Bowdoin community, but
will contribute to it in a positive way.

Thanks for the replies. As I stated in my earlier post, I have a 93.5 UW this year I am taking AP US, AP Eng. Lang + Comp., AP Psych, Honors Calculus, Regular Physics (I had a scheduling conflict with English. It was either give up lunch or take regular physics, I chose Lunch), and Spanish. Previously, I had all honors courses. I also take band. My GPA was around 92UW in freshman year, but has risen to a 94UW in soph and junior years. My school doesn't rank, but I'd say I'm in the top 10% of my class. I have Decent EC's and 700 + hours of community service. Another question...Do colleges see your SAT Writing subscores (essay and multiple choice).

Well, unfortunately, I am a New Yorker. I don't think Bowdoin gets many apps from my school tho. Maybe 1-3 a year.

Write great essays and I think you are in!

You should get in. maybe, if you are interested, you could even try for something a bit more selective.
