Advice for a perpetually tardy student?

I'm late for school almost every morning. I have no good reason... waking up is just exceptionally hard for me. I'm a really good student besides this: straight A's, very involved in numerous clubs, my teachers like me, this is just my Achille's heal, I guess.

We have a "town meeting" (i.e. school-wide meeting) every morning, and I'm usually only a couple minutes late for that, but it's enough to catch the attention of the dean. She wants to meet with me about my tardies this week. I'll take whatever punishment she gives me, since it is totally my fault. I'm just really embarrassed by my huge failure to get to school on time and not sure what I should say to her. Any advice on how I should handle this meeting, and on how to stop late?

Thanks so much!

There’s a boy who has been in my homeroom for the past four years and has arrived to school late, at the exact same time, every single day, since Freshman Year. Its honestly remarkable.

Anyways, to address your question - have you tried perhaps going to bed earlier? Maybe not eating after 7pm? No sugary foods at night? These are all things that impact your sleeping pattern.

I doubt its a serious issue and since the problem itself is not academic or disciplinary/violent (i.e. you’re not failing classes, getting into fights, etc) I doubt you’ll get any punishment and if you do, it’d be pretty minor.

Wake up earlier.
Cut something out of your routine like doing your hair.

No matter what, leave the house at the same time every day.

You have an alarm clock/phone alarm, right?
