Advice for a Prospective Transfer Student

Hello,

I'm an incoming freshman at a Top 25 LAC for the fall. Due to a set of drastic and sudden circumstances, my vision for the future and what school I would like to attend has changed; as such, I plan to transfer to another school for the 2013-2014 school year.

Unfortunately, my HS stats, while okay (3.64 GPA, 2200 SAT, 31 ACT), are probably not good enough for me to use them as the primary lever for my transfer acceptance. At this point, my #1 choice is Cornell's School of Industrial and Labor Relations, although I will of course be applying to other schools as well.

Given the fact that I would like to transfer after one year, what are the the best steps for me to take in order to position myself to be accepted at a school of ILR's calibre? My "soft" qualities are a good bit stronger than my hard statistics, and I'm afraid that my HS grades are going to hinder me from attaining opportunities that I could otherwise easily access.

Thank you very much and I look forward to any and all advice!

Please don’t be shy, I don’t bite! Haha.

Well I would advise focusing a lot on college. If you already have strong statistics as you say, then a 4.0 in college obviously couldnt hurt.
