Advice for Harvard/Stanford Law - Apply Early?

I'm currently a senior at Duke University, double majoring in economics and philosophy.

I currently have a 3.83 cumulative GPA. My LSAT score is 175.

I don't have much extracurricular activities. I've done some independent research with professors. I've also done a finance internship with Deutsche Bank.

I'm trying to get an accurate gauge of my chances because I'm trying to decide whether to apply early. I know that it is generally recommended to apply early. However, if I wait until after December 20th and get my grades for this semester, I believe my GPA will go up to around 3.86.

Is it worth the wait? I'd appreciate any insights on this and my overall chances.

No. Apply now. You’re in at Harvard anyway, and Stanford won’t care about the extra .03. (My tentative guess is that you’re out at Stanford, but that’s just a guess.)

EDIT: You know what, I’m going to have to withdraw that certainty about Harvard. Apparently it’s gotten just a tad tougher since I applied three years ago. Nonetheless you’re still a very strong candidate, and the extra .03 is unlikely to matter – especially since it’s not a sure thing anyway.

What’s considered early? and how do you know when these dates are for each school?? Thanks!

When you set up your LSDAS account, you will see when schools begin accepting applications. For Harvard it’s probably 9/15. I don’t know when it is for Stanford.
