Advice for me?

I'm currently in High school.11th grade.
I'm from India and I'm interested to come to USA for college.I plan on doing a BFA in graphic design. But without a scholarship it is going to cost so much.i'm really depending on a scholarship. The schools I'm considering are MICA,RISD,Virginia COmmonWealth,CCAD

On the other hand,my mom wants me to look at India's best design college.
NID( National Institute of Design) Welcome to National Institute of Design, India which will cost much much lesser.

I want to know which is better and which I should have as my main option? Which seems to have a better reputation?
Has anyone heard of NID?

I posted earlier saying that I find your work quite strong. If you are depending on a scholarship I’d say go ahead and apply and see what you get offered. However I also looked at your link to the school in India and it looks like a good school, was ranked in the top in Asian and Europe. If you would need loans to come to the US you might want to consider doing that for graduate school if you attend. Our economy is pretty weak right now and getting enough work to pay off loans after graduation is going to be tough for quite a few years I think. So here’s what I’m thinking.

Go ahead and apply to the schools you’re interested in the US and see if they offer you enough that you don’t have to go into debt.

Also apply to the school in India

See what you’re offered and then make your choice but I would advise being very cautious about coming to the US if you’re taking out heavy loans.

Also look into Cooper Union as an international student. It’s tuition free if you get in, do you know about this school? Check out the posts here if not. I’m not sure the details for international application but I’m sure it’s on their web site. I do think you need someone with a US address (they probably don’t get into shipping their packets overseas) so you would need a family friend or relative here who would be willing to forward stuff back and forth. It’s worth a shot, their fine arts department is very conceptual but their design department has graduated some very big names in US design in the past including Milton Glazer and others. If you think that’s an interesting option (free tuition, why not?) do some web searches and read up about the home test and application process as it’s pretty unique to other schools.
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply Artsmarts,

Yeah. That’s my plan right now.I guess I’m starting little early.I just entered my 11th grade.
So I have time to prepare.
I’m also considering Universities apart from Art colleges because they seem cheaper and I really like to live in a University atmosphere.

I did check out Cooper Union,
But the only thing is that it offers BFA only.No specialisations.I will have to ask a few students how that is since i’ve never come across that before.
