I am an international transfer student and I applied in Graphic Design. At this point I get totally confused about which of the schools I get in to choose and I have very little time left for thinking.

Here is what I selected from the colleges I was admitted:

Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) sophomore dont know about a scholarship yet.

Parson The New School for Design sophomore 15 000$ scholarship for the first year.

Columbus College of Art and Design- dont know entry level yet - 9 000$ per year.

Milwaukee Institute College of Art- dont know entry level yet - 9 000$ per year.

Rochester Institute of Technology sophomore 8 000$ per year.

I am unable to visit the schools and all the information I get is from the colleges web sites and their reputation over the Internet.

I would be very grateful if you give me some directions on which one would be best and give the ultimate opportunities for a Graphic Design major. Or at least help me cut down the list to 2, maximum 3 choices.

Thanks in advance! I would be very happy to assist with what I can, too.

Hi!
i don't knw much abt the other schools but I'd go for Parsons if I were you because besides the fact that it gave you a scholarship, it is very renowned for academic exellence and especially for an international student who might want to engage in a career at different locations around the globe, Parsons resonates most with the international Art community in addition to being in NYC which is a definite plus for artistic endeavor. I wouldn't hesitate to chose Parsons...

I don't know very much about the last three schools, but I do know that

1) Parsons is about 30% international students, I think! so you'd definitely not be a rarity there and it would probably have better int'l student support.

2) Communication Design seems to be pretty good at Parsons. Not sure about Graphic.

3) MICA seems more fine-arts oriented, but it's a great school in general.

4) Nice scholarship from Parsons, but NYC is super expensive so watch out for that.

Thank you very much to both of you! I will keep in mind what youve said.

As for Parsons I am accepted in the BFA Communication Design program, not the Graphic Design AAS. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Does somebody else know something about MICAs Graphic Design program or some of the other schools; especially Columbus College of Art and Design?
