DS is wanting to apply to UT Austin. Is it more competitive for him to get in? Obviously there’s no auto admit for out of state students. What does he need for ACT? He took his first ACT in October, got 27, not a strong score. He is a junior and interested in CS major.
OOS is definitely more competitive. For CS he’ll need a 30+ on the ACT to be competitive.
Yeah, & CS is hypercompetitive anyway. Definitely possible, though, if he’s still just a junior. Plenty of time to build ECs & improve test scores
I’m an OOS student studying chemical engineering and I actually made a post on this! It’s definitely harder to get into UT OOS, but it’s not impossible. If you have any questions about OOS admission or UT in general, feel free to reach out to me
