I am currently a high school junior and I really want to attend USC. I was simply wondering if anyone that has now applied and gone through that whole process could give any advice or tips for me next year when I apply. I would also appreciate it if you put your gpa and test scores just to see where I stand. Any other misc. info on USC would also be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Really make sure you know who you want to get a rec letter from, they are a really nice embellishment to your application. Keep your grades up, way up, and become involved in something. I am pretty sure they like to see dedication in ECs, not just a bunch of jumping around to make it look like you did alot. When and if you get the chance, visit the campus and ask around students about the school. When they e-mail you for interviews, get a spot FAST! I know when I signed up, they filled up within two days, for two moths worth of interviews! If you can, find the essay prompt and start hammering away at it, an outstadning essay could turn an OK application to a a possible admit. Really make sure you market yourself to the university, not just in your application, but your essay, rec letters, interviews and what not.
One more thing....
DO NOT wait until the LAST minute to submit you app. in, you're going to end up rushing it and won't look as good.

Make contact with the regional admissions rep. Try to make that person your advocate. If there are an local recruiting meetings for USC go to them and make sure your name is on the sign-in form.

one word INTERVIEW another word have a PASSION what talent hav u stuck with over the years *like the flute, violin, studying abroad, taking a language for years

Don't procrastinate :(.
I think my USC application was the worst because I sent it in 12/10 (scholarship deadline). I wish I waited until 1/10 to send it (after I did all my common application stuff) so I could change it...completely. I won't even qualify for scholarships, ah..whatever.

SO DON'T PROCRASTINATE! If you're applying by December, start at the latest mid-November.

By the way, you don't have to interview. I didn't, and I got in with Trustee. Keep a good GPA, get good test scores, continue with interesting activities, build relationships with teachers who will write your recommendations, and have a nice summer!

work on your essays, keep a good gpa...
what is this trustee thing? is it a special scholarship or something?

man i just applied to USC without thinking as a good safety/match. oh well

Trustee is a full tuition scholarship (Presidential is half, and Deans is a quarter)

ah coolio.

thanks.

Thanks for all the advice! What admission factor do you guys think is weighted the highest (gpa,SAT/ACT, etc.)?

Regarding the interview, USC doesn't put much weight on it at all and it is definitely not requires (I think something like only 20% of applicants do it anyway) but if DEFINITELY adds to your application, so it is always a good idea.

USC likes good grades, good test scores, good essays, and good extracurriculars. The interview can only help your app process, it won't hurt it. But if your regional admissions rep likes you, you have that much more chance of getting in.
