Advice for transfer student with average grades

I'm a 25 yr old theatre major at a community college in CA w/a 3.1 gpa. I really need to transfer to a school with a good theatre program that I can complete in 2 years. I have been told by many instructors that I am a good actress, but I am worried that most of the good theatre programs will look down on me due to my age and not so great academic history.

Ideally I would like to transfer to UCI or UCSD (and UCLA...in my dreams of course), but in reality I may only be Cal state material. If there is anyone who was in the same boat as I am now, I would really love to hear from you. Or if there is someone who can offer any advice as to which schools may be good options for a person like me, I would really appreciate it.

audition and see what happens. In theater grades don’t matter. Also look at Juilliard, SUNY Purchase and Carnegie.

I don’t believe Julliard, Suny Purchase, or Carnegie allow you to complete a theater program in two years. It also depends if you are looking for a BFA or BA. If you’re looking for a BA you will find many more transfer options, for the BFA that can prove to be very difficult to find a school that will allow you to enter as a Junior.
