Do you think it's better to focus on 1 or 2 important things (even though you might have many reasons), or is it better to try to mention almost all or all the things that you find appealing about Duke? For example, for those "It's a plus" reasons like Duke basketball... is that worth mentioning?

The essay is only supposed to be 1-2 paragraphs, so I dunno...

I know people, including myself, who have written longer essays. (mine is 4 paragraphs, but they are not very long) as long as you show you are really passionate about duke, you will be fine

i have a question about length for this (sorry if i'm like hijacking your thread, OP loool). 1-2 paragraphs? *** mang! i like to seperate thoughts.. (which is what paragraphs do i guess lol), but i'm very strategic about my syntax and stuff. it feels really limiting. does anyone know (or do current students who have done this know) whether you can go like 3-4 paragraphs or something? my essay isn't going to be like 54574652752x long but i don't want to make it seem as if i cannot follow directions at the same time. like one of my "paragraphs" is like 2 lines lol.

...so you wouldn't be the only one if you opted to go longer.

My two cents is that if you want to do more than 2 paragraphs simply for organizational purposes to separate ideas (meaning that content-wise, it's still about 2 paragraphs worth of material), then go for it. However, if you truly have a lot to say, I'd try to cut it down; be clear and to the point. As it's an optional essay, I'm betting this is one of those things that they'll just give a quick glance at and move on. Up to you though.
