I know the time to hit the submit button is coming up and you guys are all probably on the verge of dying from sudden heart failure. DEEP BREATHES. You have all worked very hard to get where you are and it won't go unnoticed. At this point all you can really do is take a deep breath and hit submit. It's going to be a long couple of months waiting (trust me, it's terrible), but it will be worth it in the end. Honestly the best advice I can give all of you is to submit your application, forget it ever existed and get good grades in the spring. However, I know you guys all probably have a lot of questions. So if you want to ask anything, feel free. Finals are next week though, so give me a little time to get back to you.

how to explain the answer for 1+1? with calculus?

Unfortunately the UC’s take rejects who can’t even do basic arithmetic(uh, calculators, duh?), let alone calculus. So if you wouldn’t mind explaining the daunting concepts to me, I’d love to learn.

^^Thanks for clearing that up Ella89. At first, after reading OP’s post, I became confused.

Yeah thankfully being able to spell isnt a requirement to get in either :)

Im sorry, but Im still confused. Is there a short version of what u r trying to say OP?

^^LOL, I meant to post this on the other post that was talking about the “GAP in education”. I don’t know why I posted here…

oh haha no worries.

@Ella89 do you know if my TAG would be voided with UCSB if I don’t take one of the classes I listed on the TAG app. I listed two bio classes instead of the one actually needed to complete the IGETC. I’m replacing that unnecessary class with a 3 unit engl. class instead. Thanks.

I didn’t TAG, so I have not gone though the processb ut Im pretty familiar so I’ll try to answer your question. As long as your completing your major pre regs and IGETC you should be fine. Not doing either of those things can void it. Just email the school with your info and the changes made and try not to worry.

Thank you for making this topic. It’s definitely relaxing to hear from other experienced members who have gone through the whole process already. I’ll check back on this topic in the future but right now I have one request. Would you mind posting or PM’ing me your personal statements from last year? I’ve already submitted my application, but I would just like to see an accepted student’s PS. Feel free not to send them if you’re not completely comfortable with this though. Thank you.

Oh and do you have the answer to this random person’s yahoo question I found?
[Does UCLA have free condoms in the health center? - Yahoo! Answers](<a href=“Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos”>Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos)

lol

Haha yes there are free condoms. I wouldnt mind sending you my PS’s on the first, if you just want to read them for comfort. Shoot me a PM then.

you know i’m really sick of these kinds of statements. for many people it can take twice or ten times as long as to master a subject.

failure is often not a result of a lack of trying. some people truly have a chemical imbalance. i know for a fact numerous students at CC who ACE everything except math. i know students who perform well in math/science exclusively yet can’t write a proper five paragraph essay.]

it’s too bad schools are forced to look to GPA/SAT/enumerated stats to evaluate candidates. do you think you’re a better person because you are better at math?

do you know what it’s like to spend 20 hours to master a single concept? 20 years from now half of you will forget college math, probably algebra too.

SFKid, you need to relax. I’ve been reading this through these the last few days and always find every single of your posts to be of you complaining, whining and/or trying to find excuses. Suck it up, grow some thicker skin and press on.

Ella, ella, ella - ey ey ey

Sorry.

I’ve been wanting to do that for over a year. If I ever meet you in person, that’s all I’m going to be able say. I know that you did TAP with Cal. Did you do the SITE program at UCLA? I’m doing both, and I was just wondering whether or not you thought it improved your chances.

The additional guidance from counselors was certainly helpful.

thanks for the personal attacks and ignoring my post.

^^SanFranKid, that’s why they offer intro-to-statistics; super easy class – way easier than algebra 2.

What major are you by the way?

@whoever was *****ing about my math comment. UM sarcasm? I failed algebra 2 TWICE in HS. I was trying to make a point.

@asph, I did STP at UCLA, it’s very similar to site, but aimed at a specific racial group. But yeah I think both programs helped me A LOT. Mostly due to the fact that I had 3 well trained people go through my entire application and edit it for me. And they helped make my essays perfect. That aside, having them both looks really good on your app just by emphasizing the fact that you are low-income, first gen, whatever you are. I think it really gave me an edge at UCLA since I applied to an impacted major, well below the average admit gpa without TAP and basically no EC’s.

edit: If you havent already had Aileen go through your application, PLEASE DO. Just copy it into a word doc and she’ll tell you any random tiny details to change. I did it around this time last year and she was able to get it back to me pretty quickly with some really good insite to make the app in general stronger.

Aside from that the CCCP crew is awesome. Now that Im at UCLA I basically live in Campbell Hall (where AAP is, which houses CCCP). Once youre in you should be a member of AAP and you’ll get your own counselor, free tutoring, plus they have a bunch of outside programs for different majors. I’m in one that gives a $3000 stipend. The person that intervewed me for the program I knew from STP. So rambling aside, theyre good people to know.

history.

somewhat worthless major but i just want to get out of CC. i have no interest in math/science.

I feel sad for you guys/gals that are just going to college without a plan… What are you planning on doing with that history degree?
