Right now i am taking gifted/Hon and one AP

so do u really have to be a Gifted/IB student to get in..
and for those who already got accepted.... can u guys give us advice for those who want emory badly?

thanks

Admission is definitely not limited to students in gifted programs. However, you do have to be competitive, so Emory will compare your transcript to your school's curriculum and make sure that you actually challenged yourself instead of simply breezing through. It is apparent that you have increased the amount of challenging courses year by year, so as long as you keep the progress up and do well in those classes, I think you have a pretty good shot as far as your academics go. Do keep in mind that Emory takes a holistic approach to applications, so there are many other factors that play a huge role in admission consideration (eg, extra curriculars, recommendations, essays, etc).

Aside from the obvious factors (academics, recommendations, etc) a personal recommendation to anyone who is seriously considering Emory is to SHOW INTEREST. This is something that many people tend to overlook, but Emory is almost sure to reject someone with an outstanding application due to lack of demonstrated interest. Schedule a tour on campus and sit in a class or two. If you absolutely cannot do that, then order the video visit. Also, request more information on the site or call the admissions office, contact coaches or professors in departments that you are interested in. Do anything you can. Every little bit certainly helps, and they do tend to keep track of this.
