Eaglehopeful: Obviously, the lack of replies to your thread demonstrates the paucity of athletes or parents of athletes posting on cc! Never the less, there are those of us out there and athletics can be an important and integral part of the college experience.

As the parents of an Emory athlete, our family can personally attest to the benefits of competing in the d3 environment, rather than DI. Obviously, the facilities at Emory are second to none, and the academics are tremendous, but the benefits of competing as an Emory Eagle far exceed those two dimensions. You will find that the coaches, by and large, are completely in tune with the academic rigors required of their student athletes, and accordingly, they will gladly accommodate exam schedules, labs, etc. The coaching staff understands you are there to get an education.

In addition to the exemplary facilities, you will have strength conditioning and an athletic training team comparable to most DI programs. Add all that together with a built in group of "best friends", i.e., your teammates, and you will find Emory to be a wonderful, nurturing place.

Part of your post leaves me a little puzzled however. As a rising Junior, DI coaches should not even be talking to you, let alone giving you direction.
