I went out in June and bought a Kaplan 2009 SAT book and a Princeton 2009 SAT book. A lot of people on CC are telling me that both books are useless! Are they good in any way to prepare for the SAT? Will the help me in the slightest? I also have three Barron's Books (Math, Writting, and Grammar) plus Hot Words (I'm pleased with Hot Words).

Kaplan is NOT worth it. That book … UGH. Drop Kaplan.

What is Hot Words?

That totally sucks because that book cost like $35. Hot Words is this series of Vocab. books that my English teacher used to use for our Pre-AP Eng 10 vocab. tests. It was really helpful (she used the 1995 version) so I picked up the new one and it’s really been helping me as a whole lot of the SAT words are in their. I’ve heard about Direct Hits but haven’t gotten it. I guess I’ll have to sell Kaplan, for $15 less:(

like the other person said drop kaplan it is of no use whatsoever! but um u should definitely get collegeboard’s book The official SAT study guide for practice tests dont do practice tests in any other book cuz they arent real tests. the college board books is real tests so thats all you need. but for tips and strategies i would recommend the Directs Hits volumes 1 and 2 for vocab. barrons and grubers are good for math. rocket review revolution for CR.

Look on the bright side: you now have some extra firewood to get you through those long winter nights.

But yeah, all of those books are useless. You should have listened to our advice BEFORE buying those books :P

3 week old thread guys…

Oh, wow… didn’t even notice. Who bumped a 3 week old thread anyways?

i HIGHLY recommend the xiggi method! i went from 194 (11th grade PSAT) –> 2220 (March SAT) with barely 2 months of using the xiggi method! i had to rush things & skip lots of math sections (which i’m good at) but it was soo worth it! and i only had to use 2 books (official CB test book & testmasters - answers for the CB test book)
