Advice needed for recc letter concern

Hello all,

Basically I’m planning to apply as a bio major for a premed track, so I decided to get a recc letter from one non-STEM teacher (world language teacher) and the other from my AP Biology teacher, seeing as that was the most relevant class to get a recc letter from.

However, my bio teacher was retiring that year and refused to write any recc letters for anyone, so I got a recc letter from my math teacher instead to still have a letter from a STEM class.

The colleges, of course, don’t know this so I’m worried they might think I’m inadequate and bad at biology and shouldn’t be accepted as a bio major. This especially concerns me because I also ended with a final grade of a B in AP Bio and Honors Bio the year prior (taught by the same teacher) even though I got an 800 on the subject test.

Should I mention the fact that my AP Bio teacher was retiring and thus unable to provide a recc letter in an additional info section? Thank you in advance for your help.

I wouldn’t worry about it. Lots of kids choose the teacher who can write a good letter rather than the one who taught the course most relevant to the student’s major.

No.They won’t care.

If they think that, it will not be because of who did (or did not) write an LoR.

Any good stem teacher is fine. The question is, why foreign lang?
