Hi I’m a highschool senior from New York trying to decide (very last minute) what school to go to next year. I’m between University of South Carolina and a SUNY. Loved loved loved sc when I visited but I’m not sure how reputable the business program is. If I still want to live in the northeast will I be able to find a job? How many students in the darla Moore school of business end up only finding jobs in South Carolina? If anyone has any info or advice I’d really appreciate it. Thanks
From what I’ve read, The Darla Moore School of Business is the number one International Business program in the country. My daughter and I were at one of the Preview Days, and it’s clear the business program, at least on the international side, is a point of pride for the school and very well funded. The new DM business building is top notch. Perhaps someone else can weigh in the domestic business program, but I expect it’s a strong major as well. Good luck!
I have a son that is a senior at UofSC and graduating in May. He is a finance major Econ minor at the Darla Moore School of Business. He is not in the IB program nor is he an Honors College student. We had the exact concerns when considering if he should attend here vs other top business programs he had been accepted into including SUNY’s. I must say attending the DMSB has been the very best decision hands down. He has had impressive summer internships the past two summers, Chicago and NYC and has a full time job in investment banking in NYC that he will start this summer. Poke around some of the DMSB club websites and you will see the number of students landing great jobs in large firms in NYC and other cities. My son is a finance scholar- you apply to this at end of sophomore year and its a great program and great for resume. There are many business/finance etc clubs offered at the DMSB, it is very important to get involved from the start. These clubs allow you to meet other very motivated business students, interact with professors and see speakers from the industry that come to speak regularly. So, yes we had the same concerns about attending school in SC and not being able to find a job up North, we now all agree that UofSC was best decision ever and the quality of education and support at DMBS has impressed us enormously. Good luck!
