Hello, I’m a junior and planning to take the sat math 2 subject test in June. I’m looking for a prep book that will help me get an 800 on the test. I’m really hoping that I won’t have to retake the test.
Also, I’m in search of any prep books for the chemistry and us history subject tests. If I am taking AP Chemistry and APUSH, will i need to buy additional prep books in addition to my AP review books or will those be sufficient? Thank you for your help!
For the Math II subject test, it is basically testing what you learned in precalc (assuming you have already taken or are currently taking the class). The best prep is honestly just knowing the material from that class. If you want to rely on a test prep book, I personally used Barron’s, however, I found that it was far too difficult and was incomparable with the actual test. What I have heard (but not personally used) is that Princeton Review as well as Kaplan’s provide appropriate level practices. If you are looking to review the precalc concepts, I’m sure the prep books mentioned above will be helpful as well.
I also took the Chem subject test after taking AP Chemistry. I had an amazing teacher who taught very well. I know others that took the subject test after just Chem 1, but that is definitely more difficult. I felt that studying for the AP helped me a lot in studying for the subject test, and I took it in June about two weeks after the chem AP. The two tests have test similar concepts, though the AP goes into more depth. Once again, I used Barron’s. It was too difficult and very math heavy which the actually test doesn’t require too much of. A lot of people I know used princeton and kaplan and said they were pretty good. I recommend you read some of the customer reviews they have on different sites, such as Amazon and see which prep books are most recommended for each test.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask, if not good luck on the test!
@xc4life Thank you so much for your help! I’ll definitely be looking into your suggestions.
