Why hello there, I'm currently a high school senior attending a private school with ball park GPA and ACT scores for both UChicago and Harvard. As of now, I am finished with my application stuff and I have an essays ready for both schools. I'll be applying one EA and one regular, so I want to ask what would be strategically the most advantageous for me. I am certainly not the best of the applicants going for either, but seeing as Harvard has taken only 1 EA applicant from my school every year for the past number of years, I'm a bit worried. The pool of applicants applying to Harvard early trump my GPA by at least a few points (on a 100 point scale), and have far better standardized test scores. I'm not certain about their extracurricular activities. As far as UChicago goes, there is less competition in the early phase for me, making it more attractive of an option. Does anyone have any input? In my honest opinion I don't think I'm the top candidate for either school of all the people applying, but Harvard seems like more of a stretch given the near impossible odds next to people with nearly perfect GPAs and such. I know GPA isn't everything, but with all other factors, I think they still are better qualified. Should I still go for Harvard, which would be my top choice?
