Advice on Political Science, UVM, UMaine, Umass Amherst.... Possibly BU and University of Washington

HI! I need a little advice. I plan on majoring in poly sci/ international relations and minoring in Spanish. I want to pick a school that will offer study abroad opportunities, as well as the best opportunities in my intended field/major and what will be the best overall experiences.

I am OOS for all, and have heard back from UVM, Umaine, Umass Amherst… and am waiting to hear from BU and UW Seattle… but am likely to get in!

Overall, if price is around the same for all, which would offer me the best opportunities and environment for my major?

Thanks!!! Would appreciate any help and advice… trying to narrow things down at least a little.

While the price may be the same can your parents afford to pay it?

Yes so far I have gotten enough aid at those schools that it would be affordable.

Only consideration is I do not expect aid or scholarship from BU.

I could declare in state residency in Washington ASAP, although it might not come into change the price until junior year, it would still be an option and decreases price.

For Umaine I got a large scholarship, UVM 15k a year just merit alone, and Umass I got some merit scholarship but not tons, but all this is without any need based aid yet as well.

Price comes into play but in the end if one is high superior than the other and is 5-10k more, I will pick the one that is superior for better opportunities

You don’t just get to declare yourself in-state. Usually your parents have to move there before you start school.

My brother lives there and there is a chance my mother would move there my freshmen year so although I might noe have a chance to declare in state right away, I would have an eventual chance of it… even if I did not I am more worried about choosing the school that would be right for me than worrying about the little details.

If your family can afford to pay OOS rates for four years then I guess it would just be a little detail. Glad you’re family is in that position. All the schools should be fine for Poly Sci. If the state capital is close to the school it might open up some internship possibilities.
