Im a junior in high school and I really want to go to stern... but I rather go there for their graduate program instead of undergrad..
so is stern like other schools where the graduate school usually doesn't accept their undergrad students???

While I dispute the claim that graduate schools discriminate against their ugrad (hopefully, as I want to go to NYU law and I am in Stern right now), I will say this. Stern's ugrad program is much better than the grad program. Ugrad is ranked #5 in the country I believe, where as grad is much lower. something to think about.

Stern's undergrad is supposed to be better than the grad program if you're looking at ranking alone. However, even if the grad program's ranking is lower (about 14th or 15th), you should note that it is being compared to top schools like Harvard, Northwestern, and Chicago, which don't have undergrad programs but only grad programs. Stern's undergrad is ranked 5, but it might be the same thing because the undergrad business program ranking is less competitive since at the undergrad level, none of the ivies (other than Wharton) have business. Not many of the top schools do, making Stern high at the undergrad level, a small pool. So don't think that the grad is too bad just because it is ranked lower in a larger pool.

good point

"so is stern like other schools where the graduate school usually doesn't accept their undergrad students???"

Where did you hear this? This is not true at all, certainly not for NYU, and probably not for most other top schools either. NYU undergrad is a major feeder to NYU Law, Medical, and Business schools. I woud say being from NYU undergrad would clearly help your prospects of getting into a NYU grad school.

Cardinal, what are you majoring at Stern? I just want to know which majors at a business school tend to apply for law school.

Finance and undecided between Econ or IB. There is no real "major" for law school per se. I'd say though that most people who go to Stern and want to go on to law school are finance and econ. Finance because it's the best major here, econ because it's just a raw science. There are 4 Sternies on NYU's mock trial team, 3 are finance, 2 are econ, one is an InfoSys major, so there's no real type. Also, I'm planning on doing some I-banking before law school, as I will have zero moolah for law school after I graduate (and the loan collectors from citi will be knocking). So I guess what i'm trying to say is, major in something, go do it, and then if you still want to, go to law school.
