Hi everyone,

I'm a senior trying to get through my essays and I'm not sure which I should submit. In one version of my common app essay and for some of my other essays, I address my hardship faced at home (abuse-related) but am sure to not make it depressing and I mainly discuss how I overcame the obstacles and used it as motivation to achieve greater things and strive for a better future. Is this okay?

I have read similar threads and some people say to have your counselor talk about it one their rec, but I just got my counselor this year as mine retired and I hardly know her and I'm not really comfortable telling her about any of this, but I will if it is necessary.

Sorry if this post seems kind of jumbled/all over the place, I'm typing on my phone and I'm really tired. Thank you for your help!
