I am technically a rising Junior in highschool, Junior year is the dreaded time to take SATs, SATII, etc.

Personally MIT was always a ''dream school'' to me, I was always skeptical of my flimsy chances. Now that I have the SAT in front of me, maybe just maybe, if I do well, maybe I can get in. My stats right now are seriously average: top 20% in ranking out of 1300+ students in my class.

Can someone tell me if I have a shot? I never felt so despondent in my life.

No, I don't think that at this point, anyone here can give you any information about which colleges would be a good match for you. Calm down. For heavens sake, it's far too early for despondency! Do your best on the SAT tests, apply yourself to your classes, and develop a broader list of institutions that might be a good match or a reach. There's a good college for everyone, in the end.

Theoretically speaking, each individual has a shot,

but it is the curiosity/uniqueness of the individual and how they convey themselves that get in....

i.e. look at the quality "book-nerds" many institutions turn away with perfect stats. etc... if you don't know how to convey oneself, and develop socially to gain connections etc... how are you going to thrive in such an informal environment like university...

So, don't get your head down... i am no means accepted into MIT... ill be applying RD this fall... due to the idea of pre-med and certain courses which my parents think ill benefit from other institutions.. so i can't EA MIT :(...

Keep it real bro, shine out within your school, impress people, and you'll get to wherever you want to go.

Sincerely,

Thanks for your inspiring advice.
