Hi everyone,

I'll be a Sophomore starting next year pursuing a degree in Economics and a Specialization in program in computing (hopefully this combination would prove to be somewhat viable/relevant).

Currently, this summer I will be interning at Northrop Grumman as an Accounting Receivables Intern for work experience in a corporate environment. However, my main concern is: what can I do in the next few years to prepare myself for a career in IT Consulting?

Next school year I'm looking forward to applying to a Bruin Online Student Consulting position for some more experience before attempting to apply to an IT Consulting firm for an internship (not sure if this is feasible for a Sophomore). Basically, they require applicants to have knowledge of Internet related protocols (POP3, IMAP, SMTP, FTP, HTTP, etc.). I would like to know what book(s) you guys would recommend for learning and understanding the material.

I'm still researching and looking into the field so honestly, hearing any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated from anyone. I apologize if this seems very open-ended as I am still trying to learn more about the field. Let me know if there's anything you'd like me to clarify and I'll try my best.

Thanks in advance.

I hope this would be the right forums to post this. I apologize in advance if it isn't.
