Advice to a worried incoming sophomore

This is my first post on here and I am really trying to figure out how this whole thing works. The reason I am writing is because I am coming down to finals week and I really need some perspective about transferring and what I should do. I don’t really know who to turn to and it would be great to get some advice from whoever is out there and might see it.
I am currently finishing my freshman year at a junior college in California. My college doesn’t recognize +'s or -'s so my accumulative grade point average after taking 6 classes (a total of 18 units) is a 3.5. I am currently a business major and I am applying to transfer this fall. Currently, I am taking 16 units this semester and things aren’t coming out like I had hoped they would. It looks like I am going to finish with two A’s for certain, and either one B and two C’s or vice versa. This gives me a lot of anxiety because I am trying to competitively transfer to a UC program and the reason I am writing to see if I should retake the classes that I might get a C in this summer. If it is even worth it, or should I just take some softball classes during the summer? What I am asking is, what is the best way to be as competitive in my application this fall? Someone out there please help lol.

Be honest with yourself about why you got the Cs - are you capable of an A in that course? If not, it is a waste of time.

A 3.4 + gpa (and the right combination of classes) will make you a pretty solid applicant for all but the most competitive schools/programs.

Getting an A in a transferable course or 2 over the summer will certainly help. Those will be the last grades included on your application in November.

Not sure of your major or target school but, be sure to apply to several UCs and TAG at least one.

If it’s not too late to drop the C classes, do it. The UCs do not care about Ws. You cannot retake any course that is C or above. You CAN retake a C- and lower, so maybe you just do that. Just make sure you retake any courses by this fall so the UCs can calculate in the repeated course after next January.

Applying to business or Econ is tough without a powerful GPA. Maybe consider a related field. Your GPA is strong enough to get you into a UC. You just need to tweak the major possibly (at least in terms of Haas).

And, as @ncalrent said, TAG one campus.
