Advice to give to those applying

Hello everyone! I’m going to be graduating in the upcoming school year (15-16) and I’m looking into Music Education. Right now, my main choice is West Chester. I’m not sure where else to look, so if anyone has any suggestions please tell me! I play the trumpet, so I’m wondering what a music audition will be like so I can better prepare myself for it. Thank you all so much!

Do you have a private teacher? If so, that person should be able to assist you with some of these decisions. If not, and you can afford it, you should get one now. You can improve a lot between now and audition season. The schools’ websites will have information on what the repertoire for your instrument is, so make sure you look at that.

I think the common wisdom is that it is good to study music ed in the state you hope to teach in, since there will be connections there.

Susquehanna and Gettysburg are other potential choices in that area. Good luck!

Temple has a good Music Ed Dept also
