Advice to parents/students with LD/MH

It depands on how much self-improvement they willing to make and how much the school they attend is willing to help them and also how the student life is at home.

For example I have a learning disabilty.

When I was in k- 5th grade. The school tryed to help me alot. <--self improvement was very weak back then. My sister always did my homework and my dad always yelled at me when I asked how to do stuff, because it took me longer. My mom and dad always were fighting.

When I was in Windy Hill Middle School <--self- improvement was a little better and I was put in mainstream class's and was geting good grades, until I chose the wrong friend and stoped self improving myself.

8th grade changed schools, Put back in to special ed class's until he complained in 9th grade and the high school did noting, until he turned 18 and put him in Mainstream class's again. <------self-Improvement in 12th grade again on English and math a little bit. <--Found his own tutor from the school he went to and I'm very happy she's willing to help. Other thing is <------self-improving again by studing everday.

Let me point out, I have held a job at publix for five years and I rember where ever item is at that store or at least most of them. Most of my co-workers and friends tell me not to give up. People are out there willing to help the learning disabled, You this have to take the steps to find the people and steps to help you self improve.

Heres a few tips for the learning disabled.

Go buy the Ged subject area you weak in. For example : GED Math teaches the basic subtraction, adding, divide, gemotary, rounding. Which I'm sure is the same thing you learn in High School.

If you not geting help and you under the age of 18, take the iep test again and get you parent to go to you school to help you, so you can take it again. In Most schools if you under the age of 18, you have to have parents permisson/consent.

So to the parents of students with learning disabiltys or students enrolled in special ed class's., Start improving you self while you enrolled in High School by going out and geting books in the areas you weak in and if you don't know the areas you weak in, get you parents and the school to give you the iep test. Don't let the school/system walk over you learning disabilty, Fight back and don't give up! Suceed and don't let anyone bring you down.

Let me point out, I wish I would,ve done that and I would'ent be stuck studing now. So please take my advice and get a jump start on learning with prep books for the Ged Test.

They have been very sucessful people who were disable if you read history books. The person who created the Light Bulb I belive. This look up sucessful people with disabilties.

I'm 22 trying get my ged and I have a math tutor + a ged teacher online who wants me to studie 300 min a week. What I found out no matter the book or studing online. It is the same Math. I think if I studie the book and online math. I might be able to learn faster. I also have a part time job as a front end service clerk at publix=bagger. All of the customers respect me and like me. I help greet at a church. I'm very respected in my city and do get help. I'm just pointing out even if you are learning disabled, just be youself and don't be scared that people will treat you diffrent.

This is a glorious story.

Do you have a blog or something?

I know where Publix is so I live too far away from you. But, you seem to be the kind of fellow who will make a young lady proud one day.

Fight the good fight and keep on keeping on, my man!

My aim name is brianltb. I have to keep fighting the good fight. I will keep fighting and not give up. Also let me point out the doctor told me my brain is below my skill. My math tutor says I only make little mistakes, which makes the whole problem wrong. So I need to work on my math more and soon I should have a GED. Which will help me get in to Lake Sumter Community College.

I have a blog, but not about me being learning disabled, it about what I’ve been though in life and it is on facebook.

Asked me advice about this too. I was really surprized, when I was asked. Only thing is one of her kids is still in elementary school and the other in middle school.

She is a single mother and works full time I belive. Any advice on what I can tell her?

She needs to learn everything that she can about her children’s learning differences, and she needs to find out what services are available in their school district. Then she has to push, and push, and push until she get them the help that they need. There might be a special ed. parents group that she can join that will help her figure out where to start.

Good luck to both of you!
