Advice

Hi all. I’m currently a freshman at UF and love it. If i could give one piece of advice, DO SUMMER B. I know for many it isnt an option financially, but if you are even considering it, please apply for summer B. I could spend hours talking about why i loved summer b but a few of the main points are the friends youll make, the gpa booster if you take good life and another class, the ease of getting used to campus, and so many more reasons!

Hanging in there Herosaurus? I know they have some tough weed-out classes. Use Study Edge if you run into any problems!

My mom told me the same thing. That’s exactly what she did. She took 2 decent academic classes but said the experience of learning the campus/meeting people was a huge advantage in Fall. (25 years ago)

@Trisherella hahah yes and i hope your kid is too! the second chem exam was killer for many but i was happy with my score. I love study edge so much! @Rubix1 yes it was such an awesome time and i made so many memories. Fall is a whole new experience and im loving it but i wouldnt be doing as well if i didnt have summer to adjust.

A piece of advice for all of you applying: if you get Pace and youre not sure you want it, appeal your decision! Because a few hundred kids less enrolled this year, everyone i know that appealed their pace decision was accepted traditionally. Not saying it will be the same this year or that it worked for everyone, but TRY.

@herosaurus17 Do you know if the former Pace kids were able to get on-campus housing when they were accepted traditionally, and also when they found out of their traditional acceptance? We are in this position this year. Can’t do Pace as I changed my career goals since I applied 6 months ago, and there is no way to get there through Pace. I was accepted to FSU with the Freshman Scholarship, so that’s an option, but UF offered Pace. We are a Gator family, so I really want to go to UF, but can’t with Pace.

@rccoble Im actually herosaurus but forgot the login info lol. And YES! my roommate, who im living with next year, was originally pace but appealed and is now traditional. He appealed and was told no but then in early may right before we did housing he got an email that said his appeal was accepted so it may take a while but it happens!

Thanks! They say it’s a slim chance, so we’ll see.

Did he fall to the back of the line for housing, or did he get his original place in line for housing (based on when he made his deposit), or do you know?

I appreciate the information. It’s hard to find out if this actually happens and Admissions seems to really try to discourage you.

They told me I couldn’t appeal, but that they put my name on a list for a term change request.

@rccoble Well I had the first time but because he was admitted so late, the housing process wasnt fully complete for him so housing hooked it up and put us in our first choice because of a mistake on their end. Overall though, He was only in his originaly spot i think but it didnt matter because I was before him. I dont know if this was clear or not but We decided to room together and it goes based off of the earlier persons time.
