Hey there all I just completed my fall semester, and finals (ugh). But my main issue is, I had a 97 going into my Orgo 1 final and currently w/o any curve have been dropped to an 89 percent. I am just really upset with how I fell off as I had a calculus and Bio2 exam the exact same day, so as you can imagine I was freaking the **** out! Which led to my lower orgo final exam grade which was still respectively above the average.

I am about to send my Orgo teacher an e-mail about asking if he can bump me up a percent, but what should I say, I have one chance to say it and I don't want to come off as sounding like im desperately pleading etc. I know lots of ppl would kill to get a B in Orgo, ironically I tutored friends before the final who now have a solid A in the class and now I am the one with the B+, its just killing me inside knowing I helped them get that grade when I faltered off.....(Sorry in advance if this comes off as ranting..) But in all honesty what should I say to persuade my professor?

Thanks for your time and input it is greatly appreciated!

(I technically had an 88 but with all my homework completed have an 89...but I have this funny feeling he wont curve)

You didn't tell us what the grading scale is, but if you need a 90 to get an A, it looks like you didn't make the cut. Tough luck, yeah, but that's life.

I don't see how you're not going to come off as not desperately pleading - that's what you're doing, no? If I were you, I'd be careful - you're validating the stereotype of "that pre-med student," the one who argues over every little point in hopes of getting a better grade.

Check to make sure your test was graded correctly - mistakes occasionally do happen. Beyond that, don't say anything at all. A B+ is fine.

Well, that's life. Do you honestly think he's going to give you a free point for no reason? I'm sure other people had exams that day too. It's called finals week.

I have never heard of a prof, at least at a big competitive school, who will bump your grade because you wish he would. Maybe if you had the low score on the mid term and the high score on the final, then they might adjust the weighting?? But not the opposite!

UPDATE: I got the A-, as the professor was sympathetic to my final schedule and impressed by my overall peformance on the mid terms. I dont know *** is wrong with some of you really ACTIVE CC'ers who just join in on a thread to try and downplay on my attempt at something ,its a thread, I am asking genuine ADVICE not your personal take on my situation you either got screwed by a professor some time before or are just a really lame person. Ask and sometimes you shall receive, MERRY CHRISTMAS!
