Hi everyone,

I am currently a freshman in high school and am looking for some advice.
I just completed freshman year and am very disappointed in myself, I got a mixture of A's and B's (one low B) and got an 89 on two NYS Regents Exams (Integrated Algebra and Biology) and BOMBED my Spanish final (definitely not my subject). I believe I have around an 88 GPA. After all of that it may be hard to believe I am a smart kid, but I am.

This past year I was on the freshman basketball team, was President of my grade, a Student Government Rep and a lead member on one of the committees with parents and school administrators, participant in Model Congress, DECA and my school newspaper (I just became a copy-editor), I produced television shows for a local station and am also the leader in a local Darfur activist program.

I just recently spoke in Albany at a New Yorker's Against Gun Violence rally with Speaker of the Assembly Sheldon Silver and this summer I was accepted to participate in a program at Columbia, I am taking a trip to Tanzania to do community service and was also offered an internship with my local assemblywoman.

Clearly this year I took a lot upon myself, but at the same time my grades suffered. I know it's early, but I am still worried about college. This year my grades certainly suffered. I want to become a politician and getting into a good school is very important to me.

Do you guys have any advice to offer to me on what I need to do to make myself a stronger applicant when it comes time to applying for college. Do I still have hope of getting into a good school? Am I too worried and do I still have the potential to get into a good school and be successful?

I know that was a lot but your advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!
