Ok, so I took Honors Bio last year as a freshmen and I did pretty well. Got an A for both semesters in that class. Now I'm in AP Bio as a sophomore. I am doing Ok. I'm getting like a B+? I'm not sure. I'm planning to take the test in May, before my AP test. I bought a review book from Princeton Review for SAT2 and is also reviewing from Kaplan for my AP test. Is that enough for preparation? Should i get another review book? When should I start reading and reviewing from the PR book? Do you think i will get 730+? Thanks!

you should be well-prepared for the test. I definitely think you could get a 730+ if you go through those books and pay attention this year.

Since all high schools are different it's hard to predict ur score on the SAT just by looking at ur grade in class. for SAT 2 bio, u might wanna get barrons or kaplan (or whatever prep book that works for u) in addition to PR. if ur aiming for 730+ then i'd say start reviewing at least a month before the test date. memorize as much information as possible, BUT ALSO learn how to apply the concepts in different situations, i.e. interpretation of experimental data, making predictions in a given real-life scenario, etc.

Commend you for taking the subject test in May, when you have your AP exam. That's a smart move.

If you are well-grounded in AP Bio, there's no reason you shouldn't score high 700s. The tests, however, are very different as SAT focuses primarily on basics. Be sure to have a confident understanding of basics. PR provides a good review. You may want to check out sparknotes for free prep.

SATII seemed a little harder to me than the AP Bio exam did, actually. The questions were so random! REgardless, if u do well in AP bio, u'll be well-prepared for the SAT II

Will they offer SAT 2 for bio in May?

I took it last year in May right before the AP also. I got a 5 on the AP and a 760 on the SATII. I didn't do too much prep specifically for the SAT II as I was simultaneously prepping for the AP. I did take a few practice tests, though, which is important.
Also, make sure that you're at least familiar on a basic level with ALL of the material. My bio class last year had a more molecular focus, so I planned on taking the Bio-M test. Prior to the SAT II, I hadn't bothered to acquaint myself with all of the information, as I assumed I would be fine with what I knew from mostly just molecular. As a result, I wound up missing a few VERY simple questions about basic ecological/behavior things that I wound up learning a few days after the SAT II as I prepared for the AP.

All the SAT subjects tests are offered on the test dates except language (only in nov) and march (SAT I only).
I think the most important thing to do if you want to score high is to do practice tests. the more the better & eventually you will see questions becoming very similar. make mnemonic devices to help you remember obscure details.. I used BIRDS to remember all the animals that secrete uric acid as waste product (bird, insect, reptile,D, snails)
I got to a point when I could finish practice tests in about 30 minutes and still get an 800 & i did on the real test.

I am in AP Bio (and AP Chem, I have A in both, not to brag, but just FYI)...So, I think if you get A's in the class tests/quizzes, you should expect 750+ on SAT II and 5 on the AP...I am aiming for an 800 and its really not so tough...

My suggestion for AP Bio. would be to: Read, Read, Read!!!(Textbook should be your Bible) The more times you read, the more & better you'll understand & remember and the better your score will be. Solve the practice/sample questions online on biology.com and you should be fine...Yes, you have to work HARD to get A's...But it's not impossible...

And remember: the better your foundations for Bio. are, the easier/better you will be for future college courses.

Good Luck!!!
