Advising help before Bama Bound

Can students talk to advisors before Bama Bound about whether to take courses they may AP out of or not? Would they try to talk to anyone in their prospective department, or will they be assigned to a specific faculty member as an advisor?

The way my college and I guess most of the colleges handle advising at Bama Bound is to go down the line and have a quick discussion with students about what they want to take and then sign off the advising form (if required by the college). It is certainly allowed to e-mail advisers or professors beforehand or after Bama Bound for really specific questions. In the presentation before the actual advising, some details about which classes to take even though one has AP credit for them might occur if it’s a really common concern.

Advising is done differently among the different colleges. There are advisors for the specific college as a whole, departmental advisors (often professors or the department chairs), and deans. In my college (Business) we can schedule individual appointments or go to group signing sessions. I end up having meetings with multiple people to check specific requirements and then register accordingly.
