Advocates for Full Consideration of SAT Writing Section

And don't forget the different lengths of dashes!

Do you want an en-dash, an em-dash, or a hyphen with that?

I fully agree, but that might be attributed to the fact that grammar is my strongest SAT section.

totally agree...12 essay, 73 mc --> 780....though CR was 770, so not a huuge difference, but still...:D

I would advocate for colleges allowing you to use your Writing score as a substitute for an SAT 2 score, if you so choose.

I think that would be fair.

Cannot agree more. Writing definitely needs to be in consideration.

740, a ten on the essay (needs to be weighed way way more)

I want to know why they don't count the writing section of the SAT yet REQUIRE the writing addition on the ACT... makes no sense to me...

Apparently, some colleges are going to start considering equal treatment of writing next year. Dammit.

-770 (12 on essay) =/

the essay is pretty important, even thought the grading of it needs to be way less subjective. i got a 9 myself :/

"As a grammar nazi, though, I fully support writing MC. I think it should be made harder, though. We should start testing people on their hyphenation and tricky whoever/whomever usage."
LOL, i'm a grammar nazi too :D i never thought it would work to my benefit in life, but then the SAT writing came along...<33

*i never thought it would work to my benefit in life, but then the SAT writing came along...<33 *

Except for the fact that, you know, they don't care about it still. ;)

Which is why this thread was made. Colleges will see so many people led by such a good leader that they will change all of their decisions to help us.

I should really make a 12 essay thread...

Grammatical dot the I's and cross the t's is stuff for elementary school, not an indicator for college success.

This is precisely my point. Unfortunately, many students are leaving grade school without this knowledge.

an essay in 20 minutes, really? opponent.

Signed, as long as we get rid of that ridiculously subjective essay. I got an 11 on the essay by writing the most bare-bones, basic, repetitive, 6th-grade style essay I could manage. Sad? I think yes.

The first time I took the SAT, I got 800W/670CR/650M. Clearly, writing is superior to CR and M.

Agreed!

740 Writing.

Yep, agreed as well! It really ****es me off that the part I did best on is the "joke" section of the SATs, and that I still I have to take it anyway.

I got an 800.
