AEM and WHARTON admissions

Hey guys, I just got waitlisted today by Cornell. I applied to AEM.

I also applied to Wharton.

I know Wharton takes approximately 500 kids out of 4000.
What about AEM?

What I’m trying to ask is: is it harder to get into Wharton or AEM?

The logical opinion would be Wharton. But if you look at the numbers, doesn’t AEM only take 100~ or so kids? In order to match the selectivity rate, about 800 kids would have to apply to AEM.

But I have a feeling that AEM has been getting a lot more attention from applicants to Cornell this year. Does anyone know the numbers on this?

Or do you think they might be looking for different things altogether? The consensus about AEM is that its academic and intellectual environment is more relaxed, while Wharton terrifyingly competitive.

In 11 hours but…Help! hahaha.

It's difficult to quantify, because AEM is a major located within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences - statistics are hard to obtain for it specifically.

But if you look at the avergae numbers for that particular college in general, and bump them up a little - yes, AEM does rival wharton in terms of level of difficulty for acceptances. I would say that although has a slightly higher admit rate, it might be deceiving because the applicant pool may not be as strong as the Wharton one.
